Rate Management
Transportation rates are the prices for the transportation services provided by the company. The rates are defined based on the mode of transportation, service type, carrier, origin, destination, and other parameters. The rates are used to calculate the transportation charges for the shipments.
Rate Types
There are two types of rates:
-
Standard Rates: Standard rates are the rates that are used for the regular shipments. Standard rates are defined based on the mode of transportation, service type, carrier, origin, destination, and other parameters.
-
Client Rates: Client rates are the rates that are used for the specific clients. Client rates are defined based on the client, mode of transportation, service type, carrier, origin, destination, and other parameters.
-
Carrier Rates: Carrier rates are the rates that are used for the specific carriers. Carrier rates are used to estimate the transportation cost for the carrier.
Rate Definition
The rate is defined based on the following parameters:
- Rate Number: Unique identifier for the rate.
- Mode of Transportation: Mode of transportation for the rate. Example: Air, Ocean, etc.
- Service Type: Accounting Item for the rate. Example: Freight, Handling, etc.
- Carrier: Carrier for the rate. Carrier is the company that provides the transportation service.
- Final Mile Carrier: Final mile carrier for the rate. Final mile carrier is the company that provides the last mile delivery service. (Optional)
- Country of Origin: Country of origin for the rate.
- Country of Destination: Country of destination for the rate.
- Place of Receipt: Place of receipt for the rate. Place of receipt is the location where the cargo is received.
- Port of Loading: Port of loading for the rate. Port of loading is the port where the cargo is loaded. Port is defined by the port code.
- Port of Unloading: Port of unloading for the rate. Port of unloading is the port where the cargo is unloaded from the vessel/aircraft.
- Place of Delivery: Place of delivery for the rate. Place of delivery is the location where the cargo is delivered. Place is defined by the port code.
- Currency: Currency for the rate.
- Description of Commodity: Commodity Type for the rate.
- Is Hazardous: Flag to mark the commodity as hazardous. This rate can be used for hazardous commodities.
- Tariff: Tariff for the rate. Tariff is the list of charges for the transportation service.
Rate Tariff
- Apply By: Rate can be applied by Piece, Weight, Chargeable Weight, Volume, Container, Calculated.
- Rate Per: Unit or Range. Range specifies flat rate for the range of units. Unit specifies rate per unit.
- Weight Unit: Unit of the weight. Example: KG, LB, etc.
- Volume Unit: Unit of the volume. Example: CBM, CFT, VKG, VLB.
- Minimum Weight: Minimum weight for the rate. If the weight is less than the minimum weight, the minimum weight will be used for the rate. (Optional)
- Maximum Weight: Maximum weight for the rate. If the weight is more than the maximum weight, the maximum weight will be used for the rate. (Optional)
- Rate Minimum: Minimum rate for the rate. If the total charge is less than the minimum rate, the minimum rate will be used for the rate. (Optional)
- Rate Maximum: Maximum rate for the rate. If the total charge is more than the maximum rate, the maximum rate will be used for the rate. (Optional)
- Maximum Charge: Maximum charge for the rate. If the total charge is more than the maximum charge, the maximum charge will be used for the rate. (Optional)
- Base Charge: Base charge for the rate. Total charge is calculated based on the base charge + (rate * units).
- Rates: Rates for the rate. Rates are defined based on the Apply By field. Example: Rate per KG or Range of KG.
Rate Calculation
Per Unit Rate - Total Charge Calculation
The total charge for the rate is calculated based on the following formula:
Total Charge = Base Charge + (Rate * Units)
Minimum and Maximum Weight
Minimum and Maximum weight are used to limit the weight for the rate. If the weight is less than the minimum weight, the minimum weight will be used for the rate. If the weight is more than the maximum weight, the maximum weight will be used for the rate.
Minimum and Maximum Charge
Minimum and Maximum charge are used to limit the total charge for the rate. If the total charge is less than the minimum charge, the minimum charge will be used for the rate. If the total charge is more than the maximum charge, the maximum charge will be used for the rate.
Range Rate - Total Charge Calculation
The total charge for the rate is calculated based on the following formula:
Total Charge = Base Charge + Rate (Based on the Range)
Rate Rate is similar to flat rate. The rate is defined for the range of units. If the units are within the range, the rate for the range will be used for the rate.
